Rod was one of the very few players ever to be honored with a "Night", probably the only .240 hitter so honored. M. Donald Grant when confronted by irate fans when he dumped Hot Rod stated "players like Kanehl were a dime a dozen." A fan threw a couple of dimes at him and said get me two dozen.
