Ex-Mets catcher Hodges dies
Roanoke Times (Roanoke, VA) (November 25, 2023)

I saw Hodges play in the '70s. He was a good defensive catcher. Not much of a hitter but neither were Grote or Dyer. The Mets didn't have a really good hitting catcher until John Stearns came along. Ron Hodges was a solid, dependable backup. Mets fans will always remember #42.

What a life Roger Craig had! It's pretty cool that of all the photos they could have chosen, they picked one of an older Roger in a Mets uniform with Josh Thole. And in an Atlanta paper no less!

Grote an Amazin' anchor

I love the reference to his "grit and grouchiness." That was Jerry Grote! I remember seeing Jerry playing in the Senior League. I don't remember what team he was on, but it was my favorite team because he was on it. RIP Jerry! I'm glad the Mets honored you with a patch on their uniform. It was very deserved.
