HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

There's an old newsreel of the 1962 Mets' ticker tape parade, and Bob is prominently featured. He is riding in a convertible with Gus Bell and a third Met (I think it was Al Jackson, I'm not sure). When you go winless for one of the worst teams of all time, we fans need to appreciate as many positive things as we can, no matter how trivial they are!

Bob went to Lemoyne High School in Pa. My brother was one of his classmates. Bob would always walk around the hallways of the school squeezing a rubber ball saying that he hoped his hand would get even stronger so he could play in the majors. He seemed like a real good guy. We are proud that he got his start here in Lemoyne. After baseball he ended up working for a trucking company in the Lemoyne area.

I played football, basketball, and baseball against Bob. He played for Lemoyne and I played for New Cumberland. To Ed K.'s knuckleball comment... in our senior year, I was batting against Bob in NC, and he had two strikes on me. He threw hard and fast, even back in the Little Leagues at age 12! Frazier tobacco-chewing, Ty Cobb batting style senior, was catching. I was expecting one of his flame-throwing fastballs, and here comes a floating, hopping knuckler! I was so surprised and shocked, I froze! Nothing even resembling a swing came from my mind or bat! It was a perfect strike and I was out! Just watched a Hoyt Wilhelm video, and that brought me to Bob's major league info. Jamey B. I saw your posting!

Jonathon S. - I heard it was a steel Wall locker. It was a career-ending punch.
