HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Hated him as a Yankee- he was real tough on the Mets. He pitched some good innings against us, especially in the Series. Now that he's a Met, I love him. This was a great pick up and I hope it comes back to haunt Steinbrenner. He will be extremely valuable for us this year.

I know Mike Stanton will do just fine as a Met. As a matter of fact, Mike Stanton became a Met because he didn't want to move his kids. I also know he'll do well because he's from my town in Bergen County. his kids go to my brother and sister's schools. the Yankees' loss is our gain. Go Mike!

A backloaded three year deal with a no-trade clause for him? This is a disaster waiting to happen.

Look how the Mets most recent three year deals - Wendell, Cook, and Franco - turned out (Weathers has been fine so far, though.)

I think Stanton will be fine for 2003, but I'd have rather made Cerda the primary lefty, with Graeme Lloyd, Pedro Feliciano, and/or, John Franco, as the additional lefty.

On the surface, Mike finished with some pretty respectable numbers this year. But I think his ERA of 3.16 is a classic deception. I dug around and found that he allowed 23 of 52 inherited baserunners to score this year. And in July, when there actually was a glimmer of hope for the season, his ERA was 5.25. He was fine the last couple of months after everything had already come unglued.

I can't believe Howe ran him out there 83 times.

He never lived up to potential and was a big disappointment, what a shock! He had his moments but was never close to the setup man he was for his previous employer. I'm glad to send him back to the Bronx, even if it is for that loser Felix Heredia.

Was he over-the-hill? Or was he overused? The Galen Cisco of the early 2000's Mets.
