HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Karim looks to be picking up just where he left off last season, after being arrested for hopping into the Yanks bullpen last season to beat up a Boston groundskeeper.Reports are that last week, while out with Shane Spencer and both their wives, Karim decided to relieve himself in the parking lot of a local pizza joint. One of the employees admonished him for it, and then Karim and Spencer beat the guy up. The corroborating witness for this was none other than immortal Post columnist Joel Sherman. Way to kick off that Mets career, Karim.

I agree-he is a thug. Wilpon doesn't seem to realize that all of these part-time utility outfielders wouldn't be necessary if he had done the right thing and signed Vladimir Guerrero. Garcia's performance on the field will most likely not be worth putting up with his off-the field antics.

Even though I had my doubts about him, being Yankee trash and all, he did pretty good during his brief time here. However, whenever I saw him at bat or catch a fly ball, I had in the back of my mind Pedro Martinez mutter that infamous line, "Who is Karim Garcia?" Some of us may never know.

Seems like a nice guy despite all the negative press he got along with Shane Spencer. I got his autograph at spring training.

Another case of "What Might Have Been" He started out very well for us! Unfortunately he got hit on the elbow in Chicago, and he went into a drastic slump. Had he been given some time to heal, he could have been a force! Instead we dumped him, and got Hidalgo to take his place. A definite wash all around!

What a total disaster this clown turned out to be. He had a decent tenure in the Bronx, certainly not awesome but respectable, outside of his bullpen inceident in Fenway which should have been enough to keep us away, but hoping to steal some of their thunder as they did with us and Gooden, Strawberry and Cone, I figured it might be a good thing. Boy was I wrong.Garcia and Shane Spencer were trouble from the start and should have been released in spring traning when getting into a fight with a pizza man. Now, these guys aren't in the same league as Strawberry, Gooden and Cone, but in a warped way I thought having these two would steal a little karma. SORRY. Those two losers were a disgrace to the Mets uniform and should have never been Mets.

After a start slow that sent him to the minors in Japan, Karim came back to the Orix Buffaloes and has been on a tear since. He had a back-to-back three homer games (yes, that's 6 homers in two consecutive days), which is said to be a world record, a feat that never has been done even in MLB.Karim, a career journeyman, may finally find a home in Japan, and he has not behaved bad so far, which he claimed notoriety when he played back in the States.

I remember seeing him as a can't miss prospect for the Dodgers in the season preview magazines years ago. As for what he did here? It serves us right for even thinking of taking a Yankee reject and expecting something good from it. That kind of stuff only works the other way around.
