HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

I hate this guy already. I really don't want to, I hope he works out but I can tell from seeing him give up 5 runs in the 10th to the Expos that his guy blows. I didn't like the trade, I don't like giving up starting pitching for bullpen, especially after trading Seo, but after Mike and the Mad Dog trashed him, and I heard he was called Benitez Jr., I figured this guy might not be worth it. Plus, I heard that the Mets really wanted John Maine more than Julio. I'll chalk it up to one bad outing but I don't have a good feel for this clown after last night.

If he does like what he did against the Nationals last night, there's no way he's going to stay here for long. The Orioles are probably still laughing at Omar for taking on Julio.

Oh my what a way to start the season. For months Michael Kay on ESPN radio has been saying wait until Met fans see this guy the homers will fly out of the park. Well it did not take long the first one did last night against the Nationals.

This guy is vomitacious. Why the Mets love to swap pitchers with Baltimore when they all have an ERA of over 5.00 before Leo Mazzone is beyond me. I understand wanting to dump the Kris/Anna Benson two-headed dragon but at least get something for him. First DeJean, and now this guy. I hope after his last outing against the Marlins will be his last, but I have a nagging feeling we haven't seen the last of him unfortunately.

The Mets need to send him down to the minor leagues and get himself reacclamated. His head is all wrong.

This guy will get straigtened out. He is very talented, However, he lets everything go to his head. I think Peterson should teach him a changeup so he has something other than power to throw at the hitter. We can't give up on a 97 mile an hour arm because well, we haven't had too many of them.

Just as I trash people when they stink on ice, I have to give someone their props when they improve, the last few games Julio has improved greatly. Also I made a mistake with Mazzone in my earlier comment; I must have thought I was writing about the Braves for a second.

I've seen enough. He is terrible. Whenever I hear the he is coming in to pitch I know the Mets will lose. He is the second coming of Doug Risk.

That was quick. The Mets traded this schlub strait up for an aging (then again he was old to begin with) El Duque. l wonder who was laughing under their breath more, the Mets or the D-Backs. Good riddance.

So this is who we got for trading away Benson. I'll tell you, we would have won a lot more games with Benson pitching than with the mish-mosh of starters we went through. I always remember Julio being the mop-up man because, well, that is what he was. At least we got something for him, El Duque is better than Lima, but not better than Benson! Benson and Kazmir, 2 horrible modern day Mets trades.

Wow...reading all the things wrote about this kid really makes me feel bad for Jorge. Let me tell you why. First, he has a great arm. Second, he is like a son to me. I live in Jupiter Fla, very close to the previous spring training home to the Montreal Expos and the high A for Montreal, the Jupiter Hammerheads. I was a host family for minor leaguers and Jorge lived with us for 2 seasons while he played for the Hammerheads. Jorge is a very good and kind person and you just knew he was going to make to the show because of his dedication and his work ethic.

In his home country of Venezuala he is a star closer for his team and he sure can blow the speed ball by ya!. Jorge was traded to Baltimore in the off season and I called him in Venezeuala and he was very happy as they wanted to make him a closer. He shot up quickly thru the minors and became the closer in Baltimore and had a good couple years until BJ came along.

Jorge will be ok and do well. I think he will turn into a very good closer as he gets older...you watch!

I find it funny to see the comments now, especially the one longing for Kris Benson. Now I'm not one of those who hated Benson here and I will certainly admit to casting an eye toward Anna from time to time, but that was a great trade by Omar.

Not only do we get John Maine, who should have been an All Star and will hopefully continue to develop in years to come, but we take Jorge Julio (who is a gas can coming into a fire) and convert him to El Duque, who has only been the Mets best pitcher in 07. Great couple of moves Omar.

As for Jorge himself, well the best thing you can say about him is that his Mets tenure wasn't as bad as his time with the Diamondbacks, Marlins or Rockies. Jorge will always be Armando Benitez with less talent and less mental toughness.
