I remember Dickie Haymore as a winner! He was not big in stature but as big as he needed to be to win! I saw in my 2 years playing with Haymore, class A Quincy ill. Mid-West League 1963 and at Auburn in the class A New York Penn State League1964. A never give up player! At Quincy we were in last place but if you were watching Haymore you would have thought we were in first. At Auburn we were in first place and it was always Haymore in the middle of almost every rally. When I pitched and Haymore was playing second base his conversation always made me feel in the moment. Haymore was my friend and I believe he was a big part of the spirit and the togetherness the 1964 Auburn Mets had! The 1964 Auburn Mets won the League Championship and The Governors Cup Tournament. For a small farm country boy, this was a dream come true! Thanks to everyone that played on this team! I just turned 80 and I still have my ring and all the news paper clippings!
