HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Had the pleasure to meet Roman my first year playing for the team at Hunter ..great team mate received me well and quickly made me feel like a was part of the boys . That year he signed with the Cleveland Indians . But remain friends although he had moved to Puerto Rico. We occasionally catch up several times throughout the years to talk about other friends that we grew up with that played baseball like Willie Randolph and Joe Laboy who just passed away this year.

Was a teammate of his with Youth Service League. Great teammate. He was the best all around shortstop I ever saw play at the Parade Grounds in Brooklyn. He could do it all, hit with power, great glove, and strong arm... never saw him make an error in 2 years. One of the most positive and friendly attitudes of any teammate I played with. In my mind, he set the standard on an amazing best in NYC team, perhaps one of the best in the nation, that year (1977). It was a thrill and honor to play alongside him. I would have said he was best shortstop in NYC, including Mets Bud Harrelson and even Willie Randolph. Automotive and Hunter College star.
