Ran across an old Waco Tribune-Herald newspaper article (May 17, 1993) about Brazell, a Baylor University pitcher ('74-'77) before he was in the Mets system, who was then an information systems lecturer at the school. He had designed a computer stats program called "SportsPro Baseball Plus" along with former Astros/Rangers minor-league coach Stan Hough (who also played in Waco at Richfield HS).
Not really a saber thing as much as a quite newfangled computer-based stat-keeping program that would run on anything PC compatible. Users could input pitch location (9-box style) and type of pitch, location of hits, etc. and get reports after the game.
The article says they'd sold the program to LSU baseball, McLennan Community College (local juco) and Solano (Calif.) Community College and say they had interest from major-league clubs.
LSU coach Skip Bertman is quoted as saying "Baseball will go almost completely to computer programs in the next 10 years." Heh.
Cost was $699-$1,299.
