When starting playing baseball in the Pony League, we kinda expanded our playing territory and my knowledge of baseball and the great players were well known and well talked about. I grew up in a country county in Virginia. In Pony League everyone playing was going to the Big Leagues! Billy was in every baseball conversation. Everybody knew Billy! I was younger so I never played against him. He was a champion at Manchester High School and signed a pro contract with The New York Mets in 1962. He played 1 year at Auburn, New York in the class A New York Penn League. I know Billy now and he still lives in the area. Billy is a great person and I am glad I met him after a childhood of hearing all of the great stories about him! I hope you see this post!
