I played high school baseball with Geoff Doggett. He was an exceptional athlete. I admired Geoff and his ability to play with confidence and superior competitiveness. He had an outstanding career at the University of South Alabama. He stole 119 bases in 134 attempts at USA. He was a major prospect with the Chicago Cubs and I don't know what happened with the Mets. He swiped 66 bases in his first season of professional baseball although he was just 39-of-60 in his second season in the Cubs organization. When he reported to Lynchburg in the Carolina League with the Mets, he hit an undesirable .176 in 68 at bats. I heard they tried to make a switch-hitter out of the graceful speedster. This guy had potential to do wonders on the baseball field and it all just went away. Joey Warner MOBILE BASEBALL CONNECTION
