I remember his 1973 Cardinal card with the rookie trophy on it. I used to love those cards with the trophy and would try to get each one for each position. In 1972 Dwain was the all-rookie shortstop. He hit a respectable .267 but was traded to the Padres the next year and hit only .121. The Mets got him in June 1974 for Brian Ostrosser and he never played another game in the Majors.
This is a guy who showed some promise early then you wonder what happened. Guess it proves just how tough it is to hit big league pitching.
